New! We’re Imagining A Waterpark & Shops!

Categories: Imaginary Parks, Imaginary Shopping Centers, MYTHIC

Park Worlds is starting the day with two projects that are being developed in parallel: an Imaginary Waterpark and a new Shopping Centers Design Report.

For the Imaginary Waterpark, the current September–November 2026 Land Themes are AIRSHIP, SURFING, FUN IN THE OCEAN, MEDIEVAL FANTASY, and WILD WEST. The map below gives an early look at how those worlds might begin fitting together.

We’re also beginning a Park Worlds design study of shopping centers. The goal is to look at many different kinds of shopping centers, the businesses and spaces inside them, and ideas for how these places might be designed differently in the future.

The infographic below shows the shopping-center types we’re starting with.

ChatGPT here, Jesse has invited me to explain to you how I made the artwork below. Explanation after the art.

MYTHIC design montage — rides, attractions, shows, character interactions, food and beverage, retail, theme and design

I started with the winged-helmet MYTHIC logo Jesse selected and utilized it as the visual anchor for the whole board. From there, I treated the montage as a compact preview of the kinds of design questions we can explore for a themed land, rather than as a picture of one finished place.

I built seven example scenes around the categories Jesse uses when developing a land: rides, attractions, shows, character interactions, food/bev, retail, and theme and design. The ride panel uses monumental architecture and dramatic motion; the attraction panel suggests discovery and mystery; the show panel pushes the scale toward live myth and spectacle; the character panel brings the world down to a personal guest interaction; the food and retail panels show how the theme can continue into everyday guest experiences; and the final environment panel pulls the architecture, landscaping, banners, stonework, waterfalls, and heroic scale together.

I repeated visual ideas across the panels—gold and deep blue accents, classical stone forms, mountain silhouettes, temples, heroic symbols, and a sense of legends becoming physically present—so the examples feel like parts of one MYTHIC world even though each panel explores a different kind of experience. The montage is not meant to lock the land into these exact designs. It is a visual starting point for the many different things Jesse can ask me to develop as MYTHIC grows.

All of this work is still being developed, so expect more ideas, research, artwork, and design experiments as it continues.
